Studio Kompas ร Habitarmonia Academy
A foundation course in motivational design for designers and architects who want to start with the most important variable: themselves.
"Every design choice you make carries a signature. When you understand your motivators, you grow as a designer, and become more effective with every client."
Whether you flood a room with light or use it like punctuation. Whether you edit a space down to the essential or layer until it feels alive. Whether you need to understand a client deeply before you can design anything, or do your best work when you're trusted to just begin.
That signature is not just taste. It is driven by sixteen intrinsic motivators: stable, scientifically mapped drivers that shape how you see the world, how you interact with space, and how you connect with the people you design for.
When you understand those motivators, two things happen at once. You grow as a designer: more conscious, more purposeful, more authentically yourself in your work. And you become more effective with clients: you understand the why behind enthusiasm or friction, and you have guidelines on how to bridge the gap before it even opens.
The 16 intrinsic motivators and how they shape your aesthetic instincts, your design process, and your communication style, mapped precisely to you.
Where your profile is your greatest strength as a designer, and where it may create distance with certain clients, so you can bridge it consciously before it becomes friction.
Why some client relationships feel like flow and others feel like constant negotiation, and what to do with that insight going forward in your practice.
How to attract clients whose needs align with who you naturally are, and how to consciously bridge the gap with those who don't.
Once enrolled (deadline: 10 October), you complete the validated questionnaire developed by Prof. Steven Reiss. You have until 11 October to submit it. Your personal report is delivered to you right after Session 1, so you enter Session 2 with your full results.
An in-depth exploration of all 16 motivators: what they are, how they show up in design work, and where yours sit in relation to others in the group. Expect real dialogue.
Practical exercises using real design scenarios. Because every participant has completed their own profile, the work is precise, personal, and directly applicable to your practice.
Katrien De Keyser is a certified Reiss Motivation Profile® Master and the founder of Studio Kompas, a Belgian design studio working at the intersection of interior design, environmental psychology, and neuroarchitecture.
Her work is grounded in the science of how human behavior relates to space. She has built her practice around one conviction: that the most powerful design decisions are not made at the drawing board, but in the understanding of who you are and who you are designing for.
As a certified RMP® Master, Katrien brings both the scientific rigor of the Reiss framework and the lived experience of a practicing designer, making this course unlike anything else available in the design world.
